Arkansas’ wine has been perfected by winemakers throughout the years. Wine was first brought to the state in 1880 when Jacob Post and Johann Wiederkehr, the two pioneers of the Arkansas wine industry, emigrated from their homelands of Germany and Switzerland. The state reminded them of grape-growing regions from their home countries, so they decided to establish the very first vineyards of Arkansas. Today, Arkansas is both the oldest and largest wine producing state in the South.
