“Bigger isn’t always better” might be the motto for South Carolina wineries. While the Palmetto state’s heat and humidity are a challenge for grape growers, those who have succeeded, primarily with the Muscadine grape, which thrives in the Southeast, produce some very high quality wines. In addition, grapes from other states are often brought to the state to make additional, highly sought-after wines.
