Introduction

Welcome to the Augusta Wine Country. Nestled in the heart of the Missouri Rhineland, this area is best known for its award-winning wineries & wines. In fact, Augusta has the distinction of being named the First American Viticultural Area in the United States.

When traveling scenic highway 94 between Defiance and Augusta you'll have the Missouri River and the famous Katy Trail along side. The same path the Daniel Boone family traveled to the Santa Fe Trail and that Lewis and Clark forged to the Pacific coast. But your destination is right here in some of the finest wineries and vineyards in the region. Here you will pass rolling wooded hills, rich farmland and small towns that have managed to preserve their German heritage make Augusta Wine Country a destination worth reaching.

In this tour we'll take you to several wineries and vineyards that revived themselves after virtual extinction during the prohibition years. Today, these wineries are very much alive with entertainment, fabulous food, and, of course award winning wines.

I invite you to get to know each winery by checking out the video clips provided on this web page. Then hit the road and get the total experience with an afternoon harmonizing with nature and tasting great wines.
